FIRE PROTECTION: THE ADVANTAGES OF WATER MIST SYSTEMS

FIRE PROTECTION: THE ADVANTAGES OF WATER MIST SYSTEMS

In previous articles, we have talked about how water mist systems work and the differences with traditional water systems.

But what are the advantages of using them?

1 EXTREME EFFECTIVENESS

As already mentioned, water mist fire-fighting systems use water as a means of extinguishing, suppressing or controlling fire in a non-traditional way: a small amount of water is ‘sprayed’ onto the fire to create a real cold mist.

The sprayed fog acts on the fire triangle quickly and effectively, bringing the following benefits:

COOLING EFFECT: strong and immediate removal of heat from the fire bed

SEPARATION OF OXYGEN: change of state and immediate increase in the volume of a single drop (1600 times), with consequent rarefaction of oxygen molecules per cubic centimetre (N.B. this reaction occurs only in contact with the fire, does not involve the entire environment and does not compromise respirability)

ATTRACTION OF RADIANT HEAT: creation of a barrier to the radiation of heat outside the fire

2 THE QUANTITY OF WATER USED TO EXTINGUISH LARGE FIRE FIRES IS MINIMUM (up to 90% LESS than with conventional systems)

The high atomisation effect of the droplets allows for extremely low flow rates.
Aquatech® nozzles can be calibrated with different flow rates depending on the hazard to be protected.

This results in:

  • No damage to furniture due to the use of a minimum amount of water
  • Light, compact and durable system (85% less weight due to smaller pipes and fewer nozzles required)
  • Short restoration times
  • Reduced installation costs
  • Easier revamping even in the smallest spaces

3 SUSTAINABLE AND ECO – FRIENDLY

  • up to 90% less water
  • use of water only
  • does not contaminate
  • leaves no residue
  • small dimensions, less use of materials and resources
  • fully recyclable materials

4 ELEGANT, PRACTICAL AND INTERCHANGEABLE NOZZLES

  • With their exclusive Made in Italy design, Aquatech® nozzles become a complement to the environment in which they are installed
  • They are the smallest in their category
  • The nozzles have no rotating or moving parts that could cause them to malfunction
  • They are made of a single piece of bronze or stainless steel and are supplied complete with an internal filter to prevent blockage
