WHAT IS FIREFIVE®?
FireFive® is the revolutionary, UL-certified wetting agent that, when mixed with water in very low percentages, can extinguish Class A, B, D and F fires while providing complete fire protection.
It knocks down flames in a very short time, performing a quadruple action on them: it enhances the extinguishing effect of water, draws heat away from the fire, encapsulates and neutralizes hydrocarbon molecules, and interrupts the free radical chain reaction.
FireFive® is also effective on three-dimensional fires, withstands extremely low temperatures (it does not freeze down to minus -28°C), is biodegradable and non-toxic (does not contain PFOS and PFAS).
HOW IT WORKS?
Thanks to its wetting technology, FireFive® maximizes the extinguishing power of water by decreasing its surface tension by about 3 times: it weakens the bonding of molecules by allowing the droplets to “spread” over the surface on which they are dispensed.
This effect causes additive water droplets to expose a greater surface area to heat than simple water droplets, speeding up heat exchange and thus extinguishing the fire.
Firefive® also allows water to penetrate deeply into the porosity of materials and creep into the interstices even between groupings of different materials.
APPLICATIONS
Firefive®’s ability to extinguish Class A,B,D and E fires makes it suitable for many types of applications.
To cite a few examples, Firefive® has recently been used and tested to enhance the effectiveness of traditional shipboard sprinkler systems.
It has also been used for the protection of hybrid warehouses consisting of storage of different kinds of materials including paper, tires, paints and woody materials.
Or again, it has been chosen for fire protection of landfills, where tests have shown extraordinary extinguishing effectiveness but also a great ability to inert, abate toxic fumes, odors and vapors.
