Water
Fire fighting systems and equipment of the “Eco-tradition”
Sprinklers, deluge systems and hydrants.
Water is the most common natural resource used to suppress fire. During the years, the technological research in the sector has led to complex and performing fire fighting system which still use water as extinguishing agent.
Water is highly used in fixed and moveable systems and remains a high reliable solution and the most ecological one.
Our water fire-fighting solutions:
- Sprinklers
- Deluge systems
- Hydrants
Sprinkler systems
Among the Water fire-fighting solutions, the most widespread and reliable are the local automatic sprinkler systems.
Their advantage is the ability to offer a total covering of the area, assuring a localized discharging aimed to extinguish the fire, from the very beginning, avoiding its propagation.
These systems are managed by a control station and supplied by a water reservoir and a distribution pipework which deploy the water into the nozzles, provided of heat-sensitive bulb and located to allow the detection of the fire.
On the basis of their configurations, sprinkler technologies are divided into: wet, dry or pre-action systems.
The system designing depends on: the characteristics of the protected area and its intended use, the fire load and the levels of combustibility (the materials capability of catching fire and burning).
Every solution we propose is engineered and manufactured according to NFPA and UNI Regulations.
Applications
This typology of systems is used to protect various type of buildings, also in industrial applications.
Deluge system
Deluge system technology is similar to the sprinklers once. They are characterized by a control station actuated by the detection system (heat, flames, smoke and flammable gas detectors), installed in the protected area.
Unlike the sprinkler, the deluge valve, when is opened, deploys the water into the distribution pipework and to the nozzles (which are usually of open type), discharging the extinguishing agent thought all the nozzles on the entire protected area,
regardless of where the fire broke out. Furthermore, it is possible to empower the system performances mixing the water with special agents, able to lower its surface tension and increase its penetration properties.
Applications
The Deluge system has various fire-fighting purposes: the fire control and suppression and the cooling down of the surfaces exposed to flames radiation. Furthermore, they are used for specific risks, such as the treatment and the storage of flammable liquid gases, transformers, conveyor belts, pipe racks and steel structures.
Hydrants
The fire hydrant is composed of:
- a water supply
- a fixed distribution pipework
- one or more discharge connections for fire engine flows, in order to deploy the water in the network in case of emergencies
- Hydrants and or hose reels
- Shut-off valves, aimed to isolate a part of the system during the maintenance operations
Every hydrant (the street, the underground or the wall mounted once) is equipped with at least one flexible hose and a dedicated nozzle. They are located in the protected area according to the fire risk assessment, in order to supply the appropriate quantity of water to fight the fire, calculated on the basis of the maximum potential accident.
Applications:
Hydrants can be installed in area which are already protected by different fire solutions. In fact, the dedicated regulations say that the fire protection with sprinkler and deluge systems must be integrated with different fire technologies.
